Rock City Gardens

This past saturday Clark and I headed up to Chattanooga to go to Lookout Mt. It was a much needed refreshing time away. It was also quit the surprise. I have always known about "Lookout Mt" but I never knew it was a city with in a city. I thought it was where you walked (or rode) to the top of the Mt and be hold there would be an amazing display of 7 states and a pretty water fall. Nope that's not what it is at all. The Mt it's self is an entire town with schools, churches, subdivisions, a college, restaurants ect. It also contains Ruby Falls and Rock City Gardens. I always wondered what Rock City was and why it would be one of the biggest tourist attractions. I mean, what could be so great about rocks. Well well....I learned what was so great and beautiful about rocks! It's a walking trail through massive boulders (some with really tight spots) and beautiful trees and as you get higher on the mt. there are breaks in the trees and you can see for miles and miles! It's took us about an hour and a half to walk the entire trail. Here's a few pics (and I mean few because I think we took 200) from our day! Our intention was to do Rock City and Ruby Falls that day but once we realized the vastness of Rock City and the length of time it took but ended up only doing Rock City!

Loved your pics. I first went to Rock City Gardens when I was about 14. It's still beautiful. I didn't know until we moved to Dalton in 91 that Lookout Mt. goes for miles, even down in GA. We had friends who lived on the mountain in GA. That is a beautiful area. Tks for sharing.
